Top Hollywood stars are joining director Christopher Nolan‘s new film one after another. After the huge success of ‘Oppenheimer‘, movie fans are already paying attention to what kind of imagination Director Nolan will bring to the screen.
On the 9th, American entertainment media outlets Variety and Deadline reported that Anne Hathaway and Zendaya will appear in director Christopher Nolan’s next film. It was previously reported that Matt Damon and Tom Holland would join the two actors. Above all, Tom Holland and Zendaya, who developed into a representative Hollywood couple after working together in Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man’ series, are attracting attention by appearing together in a new work.
Director Nolan’s new film, distributed by Universal Pictures, is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2026, and details such as the title and plot are currently unknown. However, the Hollywood Report said, “It is unclear whether it is the past or the future, but the film appears to be set in a time other than the present.” The movie is scheduled to begin filming next year.
Director Nolan, who has been with Warner Bros. for a long time, including the ‘Batman’ trilogy, ‘Inception’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘Dunkirk’, and ‘Tenet’, worked with Universal Pictures for the first time through ‘Oppenheimer’, and is also working with Universal Pictures on his new work. together
‘Oppenheimer’, which was released around the world in July of last year, is a work depicting the life of Julius Robert Oppenheimer, known as the ‘father of the atomic bomb’. This work, starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., etc., earned box office profits of $976 million (KRW 1.3653 trillion) worldwide. Among biopics depicting real people, it ranks first in history. In Korea, it attracted over 3.2 million viewers. At the 96th Academy Awards held last year, it won a total of 7 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor.
According to the British daily newspaper The Guardian, director Nolan was asked whether he would be able to replicate this success in his next film, as ‘Oppenheimer’ was a success in both box office and production quality, and said, “There is no need to worry too much about the relationship between one film and the next. “I don’t think so. I get bored quickly and I want to keep thinking about my next project.”
Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway have already worked with Nolan. Matt Damon appeared in ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Oppenheimer’, and Anne Hathaway also worked twice in ‘Interstellar’ and ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. This is Tom Holland and Zendaya’s first collaboration with director Nolan.
Tom Holland said he was “incredibly excited and honored” to be participating in director Nolan’s new project. Also, recalling the moment he received the offer to appear in this movie, he recalled, “It was similar to when I was contacted about the role of Spider-Man 10 years ago.” Tom Holland became a global star by playing the lead role of Peter Parker in ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, which was released in 2017.
