“Cinema regularly dies, but is also reborn again and again,” says director Michel Hazanavicius. The same goes for the zombies in his movie Cut!, kicking off the 75th Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday. On Wednesday, his words were further underlined by Tom Cruise, who with Top Gun: Maverick turned the festival on the Côte d’Azur upside down.
