entertainment">“I’m often asked what I do on a day off, but to be honest, I’ve never actually taken a day off. When I’m not filming, I’m free. And then I chill a bit, but basically I’m always on a film set doing what I love to do best: acting and creating. I am a blessed person, because I have traveled all over the world because of my work. As a result, I have always been able to combine work and pleasure. I lead a dream life.”

entertainment">Director Doug Liman, who worked with Cruise during the making of the films Edge Of Tomorrow (2014) in American Made (2017) agrees that the actor would rather work than take a break. “I lived with Tom temporarily while we were filming American Made. And when you work with him, you work seven days a week. And no matter how hard you work, it’s nothing compared to Tom. That man does not know when to stop and has boundless energy. He doesn’t know what the word weekend means, because he just keeps going.”

entertainment">He continues: “I can still remember a time when we worked non-stop for almost 50 days. I was really tired, but Tom’s birthday fell on the weekend. So I asked him if he wanted to celebrate, just maybe with a little party. He replied that his best gift would be an eight-hour meeting about a plane that was featured in the film. That meeting had already been postponed once, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity. He was dead serious and in the end we did, because he doesn’t eat cake anyway. He wants to stay fit and eats only healthy, lean products. So yes, that’s how we celebrated his birthday.”
