Tom Brady’s recipe for success isn’t sitting down and watching the time go by. The guy wants to train in order to stay on top.
The winner of seven Super Bowl titles therefore arranged with a few offensive guys from the club, including Rob Gronkowski, to train in private. The Tampa Bay resident, who recently lived in Derek Jeter’s house, does so at the New York Yankees facility, whose spring quarters are a block from the Buccaneers stadium.
I don’t know how he got access to it or why he wants to do it there. But when you’re Tom Brady, anything is possible.
Bruce Arians, the Bucs coach, likes to see his quarterback train… but he doesn’t like to see him do it in the Yankees headquarters.
Why? It has nothing to do with his opinion of the Bronx franchise.
In fact, he would much rather see Brady and his squad train at the Buccaneers facility for insurance reasons.
You have to understand that contracts are not guaranteed in football. If Brady or a guy he trains with were to be injured anywhere other than on Bucs property, it would not be considered an injury sustained on the job and insurance would not cover the player’s salary. The team could therefore cut him easily. Obviously, the situation is different at the facilities of the NFL team.
It is therefore for the protection of the players that Arians wants them to train in the club’s facilities. It remains to be seen if Brady will comply, but it would be logical to believe so.
