Tom Brady almost came out of retirement: the NFL legend himself revealed this on Instagram. Accordingly, in May 2023 he was about to put on the football helmet again – but an action by friends would have prevented this.
In a New Year’s Eve post about the past year, the 46-year-old becomes emotional, highlights his family and friends and calls for “to make 2024 a kinder and happier year for everyone in our lives” – before dropping the proverbial bombshell in PS leaves, albeit with a laughing smiley. “The only downside to 2023 was when I was about to come out of retirement in May and my friends threw a surprise retirement party,” Brady wrote: “They kind of left me no choice.”
It would have been Brady’s second retirement. The seven-time Super Bowl champion had already ended his career in 2022, only to add another season a little later. On February 1, 2023, the “final” resignation, as he said himself.
