Toll reduction: The stations where the discounts will apply – 2024-09-05 13:49:22

Reductions in the price of tolls reaching, in total, up to 3 euros for car users, are planned to be implemented from 1 October 2024 until 31 December 2025, as a result of the utilization of the amount of 15.8 million euros , which corresponds to the benefit of the State from the refinancing of the Maliakos-Kleidi Motorway project, which took place on July 31, 2024.

“As we had publicly committed to the Greek Parliament, for the first time, the benefit we secured for the State by approving the refinancing of the Aegean Motorway, returns to Greek society through a significant and horizontal reduction in the cost of tolls at the motorway stations, both for car users and and for professionals”, said the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Staikouras.

In particular, the discount concerns all categories of vehicles with a differentiation between light (EO) and heavy vehicles (BO), namely:

  • Discount (maximum 17%) for light vehicles at all crossings, either by using a transceiver (of any Concession), or by paying in lanes with a cashier (or automatic payment machines).
  • Discount (height 5%) for heavy vehicles, exclusively for crossings using a transceiver (of any Concession).

The period of application of the program is from October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025 (a period of 15 months) and concerns the toll stations: Pelasgia, Moschohori, Makrychori, Leptokarya and Klidi, as well as the 17 side tolls in the area, based on estimates of the crossings from the specific highway, where the possibility of deviations has also been taken into account.

Specifically, the benefit for IX users from implementing the program is:

  • 2.8 euros for 2024, as the charge to pass through the five stations is reduced from 16.5 (today) to 13.7 euros, and
  • 3 euros for 2025, from 17.4 to 14.4 euros.

Regarding heavy vehicles, it is noted that the 5% discount for users who have a transceiver is added to the 7% discount, which is already available from the concessionaire.

With the agreement reached between the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the concessionaire, the benefit returns directly to Greek society, with a reduction in travel costs for highway users.
