Tokyo Phil New Year Concert 2027: Final Performance Before Orchard Hall Closure
The Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra will stage its annual New Year Concert 2027 on January 2 and January 3, 2027, at Bunkamura Orchard Hall, marking the final orchestral performance at the venue before a scheduled building-wide renovation closure beginning January 4, 2027.

The musical direction for the 2027 program rests with Kensho Watanabe, a conductor recognized internationally for his podium work. Both Igarashi and Matsui previously participated in Bunkamura’s “Future Masters Concert” initiative, a talent-development program designed to cultivate rising classical performers.
Ticketing, Repertoire, and Interactive Programming
The program blends standard orchestral works with audience-driven elements. According to the event details, the orchestra will perform Johann Strauss II’s overture to the operetta Die Fledermaus, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto (first movement) on January 2, and Dmitri Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1 on January 3. The schedule also incorporates an interactive “Mystery Lucky Bag Program” where audience votes determine a portion of the concert day’s repertoire, featuring selections such as Maurice Ravel’s Boléro.
Traditional New Year celebratory elements remain central to the production. Ticket holders will also participate in a traditional New Year prize draw, with prizes including the opportunity to conduct the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra in a performance of the Radetzky March.
Tickets are priced at 6,900 yen for S-seats, 5,800 yen for A-seats, and 3,800 yen for B-seats. Online pre-sales through MY Bunkamura begin on September 26, 2026, followed by general ticket sales on October 6, 2026.
