Tokyo Olympics, six blues in isolation for contact with a positive

They are athletes (plus seven executives) of boxing, diving and skateboarding, close contacts of the journalist who tested positive on Sunday. La Vezzali: “Sure they will compete”

Six Italian athletes and seven managers are currently in isolation because the positive journalist’s “close contacts” at Covid arrived on Sunday’s flight from Rome. For privacy reasons, athletes’ names are not mentioned, but they are known to come from three sports: boxing, skateboarding and diving. The Japanese government, through the organizing committee, informed CONI of the need to place athletes and accompanying persons in solitary confinement. In the meantime, however with monitoring and tampons six hours before training and competition, athletes can compete and train.

“I know that the athletes are following all the appropriate procedures and I am sure that the head of mission will be able to keep under control all the situations that the athletes will be able to compete”. The undersecretary for sport Valentina Vezzali says this as soon as she arrives at Casa Italia. “Things can be done and using these protocols you can go on with the races”.
