Norway’s beach volleyball profile had to vent his frustration during the opening match against Australia. On Monday, tougher opposition awaits.
TOKYO (Nettavisen): Anders Mol and his partner Christian Sørum brought home a recipe for victory against Australia on Saturday, but the duo had to dig deep into a third and decisive set.
Deep in the sand, Mol also came during the second set when he was about to make a smash, and the TV cameras captured a frustrated 25-year-old in conversation with Sørum during one of the technical breaks.
– It irritates me those pits, because you have to shuffle your legs so sick, you could hear Norway’s captain say.
– Can complain as much as I want
The evening game at Shiokaze Park was played in a sand with structure that made it demanding for the players.
After the match, Mol was asked about the frustration midway through the settlement.
– There were many more pits in the sand than we are used to, and I do not know exactly why. They had harrowed the sand very much, and it was very soft. It made it uneven to jump in. When I was trying to find the ground I could not stack my legs, and sometimes I jumped very well, but other times I missed completely in the movement and then it becomes difficult. It is not completely optimal sand, but I have to get used to it.

Despite the fact that Mol eventually got to show off his block game, he struggled at times with both serve reception and smash.
In any case, he can not do anything about the sand. He and Sørum play evening matches throughout the group game.
– I can stand here and complain as much as I want, but I will not come any further, he says after the match.
– It’s probably the water. It’s soaked, so it has nothing to say.
