Judo in force
It’s not a surprise, but val-de-marnais judo was in great shape at the Tokyo Olympics. No less than 4 medals were collected by 4 athletes from Val-de-Marne. There was of course the individual performance of Clarisse Agbegnenou, which adds a line to its already well supplied track record.
His partner of the Champigny-sur-Marne club, Amandine Buchard, comes back with a silver medal. And both contributed to the team gold medal, like the judoka from Sucy-en-Brie, Axel Clerget.
The very first medal of the competition was also gleaned by a judoka from Val-de-Marne: Luka Mkheidze (Sucy-en-Brie) returns from Japan with the bronze.
One medal in fencing, two in cycling
Note in other disciplines, the exceptional performance of theVGA Saint-Maur fencer, Romain Cannone, who got the gold.
In cycling, US Créteil riders Rayan Helal and Sébastien Vigier contributed to the team bronze medal. Finally, Benjamin Thomas and Donavan Grondin (from Team Cycling 94) won the bronze medal for the American in track cycling.
These seven medals are enough to give ideas to those who will represent the Val-de-Marne at the Paralympic Games, which will take place from August 24. There will be Nelia Barbosa (Champigny-sur-Marne) by para-canoe, Antoine Jesel (Joinville-le-Pont) in para-rowing, Marie Patouillet (Créteil) in para-cycling, and the judokate from Vincennes Sandrine Martinet. The latter is also the flag bearer of the French delegation.
