Tokyo 2020. Volleyball. Americans are going home! Argentina in the quarter-finals

In earlier matches of this group, the Russian Olympic Committee defeated Tunisia 3-0, and Brazil in the tie-break dealt with France. These results mean Russia will come out first, Brazil second, and France fourth. The third place was reserved for the winner of the match USA – Argentina.

The fact that the team from South America is fighting for the participation in the quarter-finals is quite a surprise. It seemed that the first four places in group B would be divided between the Americans, Brazilians, French and representatives of the Russian Olympic Committee. The Argentinians, however, surprised in the match against France, winning 3-2. To advance to the top eight of the tournament, they still needed to dot the “i” against the Americans.

Marcelo Mendez’s players again played at a very high level. The 15th team of the last world championship won all three sets after the fight and deservedly advanced to the top eight of the tournament.

Argentina’s rival will be drawn by lot in the fight for the semi-finals. The South American team can go to Italy or Japan. The Poles will face France in the quarter-finals.
