Tokyo 2020: Pensi and Pekler did not make it to the finals

On Monday, the men’s free rifle complex was held at the Tokyo Olympics sport shooting competitions. István Péni finished 10th and Zalán Pekler 18th, so none of them made it to the finals.

Péni started with a flawless ten shots in his kneeling posture, but after that he shot series with an average of 97, and he started lying down in the same way, but in the end he went the opposite way because he didn’t make a mistake after that. He was on the verge of finals at the time, but stood open with an extremely weak 94-lap series, and although he improved afterwards, he eventually had to settle for 10th place with a performance of 1173 laps. Overall, he was 3 laps behind his finals.

Pekler started better than Pen, reaching 393 laps in the kneeling position, leaving him in the lead, but then only 395 when lying down and only 381 when standing, slipping back to 18th position.

Our athletes finished their participation in the Tokyo Olympics, where our four competitors managed to reach two finals in total: István Péni was fifth in the air rifle, while Eszter Mészáros was seventh in the mixed rifle team competition.
