1.background
In recent years, the Metaverse, a virtual space on the Internet, has been attracting attention as a location for new communication and economic activities. JR East will open the world’s first Metaverse VAW* station in March 2022 and is working on the social implementation of the Metaverse, such as the provision of new services using the virtual space.
Tokio Marine & Nichido and JR East have so far collaborated in new business areas such as MaaS (Mobility as a Service), and have taken up the challenge of developing new services and solutions that will lead to the resolution of social problems and the development of activities of both society.
This time, Tokio Marine & Nichido, Anshin Life and JR East will cooperate in the Metaverse, an area that is expected to develop in the future, and start a new model of insurance consulting and sales using the Metaverse space.

2.Overview of the initiative
Tokio Marine & Nichido and Anshin Life will open the Tokio Marine & Nichido VAW Insurance Consultation Office and VAW/Flying Car Race on VAW operated by JR East. Tokio Marine & Nichido, Anshin Life Insurance and JR East will provide content that enables new experiences by taking advantage of the features of the Metaverse, which can create a virtual space different from the real world.

Insurance agent avatars will respond to customers’ insurance inquiries at the advisory office set up by Tokio Marine & Nichido and Anshin Life at VAW. JR East opened the original VAW virtual space in March 2022 as part of the “Beyond Stations concept” to convert stations into a “connected” living platform.
