The Togolese Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, Professor Robert Dussey, carried out a mission to Niamey yesterday, Thursday, December 14, 2023. He was received by the Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance Mr. Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine for a working session.
Upon leaving the audience, Professor Robert Dussey indicated that his meeting with the Prime Minister follows the ordinary ECOWAS summit which appointed, His Excellency, President Faure Gnassingbé and the President of Sierra Leone Julius Maada Bio as mediators for help resolve the crisis in Niger.
“We are here to meet the Prime Minister of the transition. We should normally come with my counterpart from Sierra Leone, but a constraint prevented him from making the trip to Niamey. We had a very enriching working session with the Prime Minister and our counterpart from Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Outside Niger. We had worked and agreed on the content of the transition period, which is progress,” he said.
“With our counterpart from Sierra Leone, we said to ourselves that we will probably come back at the beginning of January to discuss the finalization of this content precisely of the transition timeline which is expected. We will now present to the mediating Heads of State and the ECOWAS Commission what we have agreed together,” concluded Professor Robert Dussey.
