Togo Town Mayor Kenji Imata Accused of Power and Sexual Harassment: Shocking Revelations

It has been revealed that Kenji Imata, the mayor of Togo Town, Aichi Prefecture, has repeatedly engaged in behavior that appears to be power harassment toward town employees. It was also discovered that there had been sexual harassment.

This is the audio content of Togo Town Mayor Kenji Imata making a remark that appears to be power harassment towards a town employee.

The male Togo Town employee said that he and other employees had repeatedly been subjected to what appeared to be power harassment since around 2022.

Male Togo Town employee:
“There was a meeting of executives in February of this year, and the general manager was called “the highest-ranking bastard” and even hearing that made me feel really bad.I even got my desk kicked. I heard there were some employees there.”

The mayor was also doing other things…

Male Togo Town employee:
“I asked the female staff member who was about to undergo surgery, “When are you going to come back with big breasts?” I guess that’s what the chief would say.”

Unable to see the situation, a male employee conducted a survey of approximately 230 town employees.

Thirty-nine people, more than half of the respondents, said they had been harassed by the mayor or had seen it, with some saying things like “die” or “I’m going to kill you” from the mayor, or wearing costumes. It was revealed that there was also an incident of sexual harassment in which the employee hugged a female employee.
Male Togo Town employee:
“I thought it was this bad. It was shocking. It was a pretty serious situation.”

Moreover, it is said that the survey itself involved some “sideways work” from the mayor’s side.

Male Togo Town employee:
“When we did the questionnaire, there was a place where the staff could see it, and when we posted it there, we were asked not to post it (by the town) and were held back. I think we need to create an environment where people can do their jobs properly.”

In September 2023, when it came to light that four childcare workers at a children’s school in Togo Town had made inappropriate comments to children, such as, “I really don’t like this child,” Mayor Imata said, “I don’t want the townspeople to feel safe.” In order to be a city where people can raise their children with care, we will treat them strictly.”

Male Togo Town employee:
“The fact that a nursery school that is supposed to be raising children is hurling harsh words at children, and the mayor of a town that is supposed to be nurturing human resources is hurling power harassment at staff members, I think they are the same thing. ”

Mayor Imata responded to the interview on the morning of the 13th.

Mayor Togo Imata:
“I’m not saying that I have no knowledge that I was harassed. It’s not clear exactly where it happened, so it’s difficult for me to recollect it one by one.”

Q. Some employees have complained of sexual harassment?

Mayor Togo Imata:
“I don’t think so. (Q. Do you have any idea?) Yes. Unless there is something specific. (Q. Might have done it?) I might have done it, um… it was all a press conference. I’ll talk to you later. I don’t know the situation, so I can’t go into details.”

Regarding his awareness of harassment, Mayor Imata said, “I’m not saying that there is no such thing,” but denied that it was sexual harassment. He plans to hold a press conference later this week and explain his findings there.

The people of the town are accused of power harassment and sexual harassment against the mayor’s employees…

Togo residents in their 70s:
“That’s bad. If the mayor were the kind of person who would say something like that, I would like him to resign immediately.”

Togo residents in their 50s:
“As a town resident, it’s embarrassing. I think people who are a little taller should straighten their collars.”

Male Togo Town employee:
“I feel a fair bit of anger or sadness as well.As this was an individual survey, not everything came out clearly, and I think there are people who have been subjected to much worse harassment, so I personally feel that I would like the committee to clarify the actual situation.”
