Ph:DR: The Togolese Government intends to focus on “consuming it locally”.

By an order from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development, dated January 22, 2024, the Togolese Government decided to temporarily suspend imports of frozen poultry meat. The Government intends to focus on “consuming locally”.

Importers of frozen poultry meat are invited to “comply and proceed with the rapid removal of overdue stocks”. The objective of this ban dated January 22, 2024 is to facilitate the sale of stocks of locally produced poultry meat. “To date, the outstanding stock is estimated at more than 70 tonnes, which are stored in the cold rooms of poultry slaughterhouses” according to the Director of Livestock, Magniminwè BELEYI.
