Today’s Covid-19 Cases in Indonesia and Malaysia are the Same Record!

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia Malaysia reported that there were 11,079 new Covid-19 cases today, Tuesday (13/7). This figure is the highest spike in the neighboring country, accompanied by the death toll reaching 125 people and a new record for intensive care patients reaching 972 people. The same thing also happened with Indonesia, today a record number of new cases occurred as many as 47,889 cases.

Likewise in Indonesia, this high case condition has made health facilities and corona testing facilities in Malaysia flooded with people. The previous record was set three days ago, on Saturday last week which reached 9,353 cases.

The largest contributor to cases was from Selangor, the most populous region of Malaysia, with 5,263 cases or 47.5% of the total cases. Kuala Lumpur came in second with a daily transmission count of 1,521 infections.

So that the total active cases in Malaysia reached 855,949 cases. Making Malaysia a country with a high infection rate in Southeast Asia.

Director General of Health Malaysia, Noor Hisham Abdullah said one of the reasons for the increase in numbers was the emergence of a delta variant that can spread through air transmission.

“We were told that the Delta variant became the dominant variant,” he said Strait Times, Tuesday (13/7).

The number of infections is still projected to increase in the next two weeks. Currently, Malaysia is also haunted by concerns about the increasing number of cases, deaths, and patients in hospitals. Even though most cities in Malaysia, including Selangor and KL, are entering their seventh week of total lockdown.

To date nearly 11.8 million Malaysians have received at least the first dose, or 24.8% of the population, said Malaysian Health Minister Adham Baba. While 11.3% or 3.68 million people who have received the full dose.
