Andrejs Osokins will hold the first concert of the tour on 23 September at 19.00 at the Cultural Center of the Līvāni region and will continue in various halls in Latvia and Estonia.
Andrejs Osokins states: “This is a tribute to Frédéric Chopin – one of the most important composers of the 19th century, whose life was most directly affected and broken by the Russian military invasion of his homeland, after which he never returned. in Poland and wrote music in exile until his death. The concerts will also feature compositions by the same great composers, 20th century exiles Jānis Mediņš and Wolfgang Dārziņš – each with their own unique handwriting, but both so united in their nostalgia for his homeland. There will also be works by the great Ukrainian composer Valentin Silvestrov. This spring, already at a respectable age, he too was forced to flee to Germany, and it is not yet known whether he will ever be able to return to Ukraine “.
A. Osokins stresses that when the future of Ukraine, Latvia and the whole of Europe is decided, music cannot and must not be separated from the events that affect us all. Over the centuries, art and music have followed historical events, reacting to them in a subtle and powerful way both as a mirror of the experiences of the human inner world, and as a representation of global processes. “Chopin’s music is particularly relevant right now, and we listen to it with completely different emotions: we feel a deep love for his native Poland, his people and his culture. Our mission as musicians is with infinite, poignant beauty. , long by this composer in exile. -lasting music, full of romantic and enormous temperament to give our listeners the inspiration, strength and perseverance to act in this important moment, “says the pianist.
