“The world is big and salvation is lurking everywhere” by Stefan Komandarev has a real chance to enter the category for the best foreign language film. There are also films from Australia, Argentina, Germany, Israel, Kazakhstan, Peru, France and the Netherlands fighting for a place there. The mini-ceremony at which the nominees for the Oscars will be announced will be in Los Angeles this afternoon Bulgarian time.
The nine films competing today were chosen from 65 remaining contenders. Even before being nominated in the competition for the best foreign language film, the film by director Stefan Komandarev won the hearts of Americans – at the 21st International Film Festival in Palm Springs, California, where, according to the “Hollywood Reporter”, it turned out to be a “surprise charmer.”
The film based on Iliya Troyanov’s novel attracted the greatest audience interest at the fest. In addition to the nomination for the best foreign film, of course, all contenders for the Academy Awards will be announced.

James Cameron’s Avatar, his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow’s Pain, Quentin Tarantino’s Nasty Bastards, Clint Eastwood’s Invincible will certainly fall into the category.
