THE HISTORY BETWEEN ARGENTINA AND PARAGUAY
La Albiceleste and La Albirroja were head to head in 95 times. 48 of those were for Argentina, Paraguay took 15, and 32 were draws, leaving a difference of 33 in our favor. Lionel Scaloni’s team failed to win in the first match of the tournament, drawing a 1-1 draw against Chile. With Messi in the lead – providing a goal from a free kick – Argentina was superior, and deserved the three points. But the missed opportunities in attack, and defensive mistakes they took their toll: the trans-Andean players got the tie from the rebound of a penalty.
Later, the National Team beat Uruguay very well: it was 1-0 in the El Clásico with a goal from Guido Rodríguez after a very good play and a cross from Lionel Messi. The captain was the great figure of the game.

Paredes will return to the starting line-up in place of the injured Lo Celso and Di María will start for the also damaged Nicolás González.
