The draw of the 34th Arab Clubs Championship for Men’s Basketball 34 will be held in Kuwait from 5 to 15 October, with the participation of 16 teams: Kuwait, the organizing club, Jahra and Kazma from Kuwait, and Al Ittihad Alexandria and Al -Ahly, the reigning champions from Egypt, Al-Sadd and Al-Gharafa from Qatar, Beirut and Al-Riyadi from Lebanon, the Yemeni port and Al-Ahly Bengasi from Libya, Al-Ittihad Al-Halabi from Syria, the Iraqi tigers, Al-Bashaer of Oman, Wedad Boufarik of Algeria and Al-Ahly of Bahrain.
The men’s draw will be followed by the draw for the 23rd Women’s Club Championship draw, which will be hosted by the Tunisian tribal club Al-Amal in the period from 20 to 28 January, with the participation of Al-Amal, the club organization, Al-Hilal from Tunisia, Fuheis and Orthodox from Jordan, Mouloudia, Hussein Dey from Algeria, Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Syrian Revolution, Beirut, Lebanese title holder and Smouha Al-Masry.
Major General “M” Ismail Al Gergawi, president of the Arab and Emirati basketball federations, stressed that all efforts have been harnessed to make the great Arab sports rally a success due to its importance in the development of Arab basketball. and in strengthening the ties of relations between brothers, praising the high level of participation in tournaments, which contributes to realizing the aspirations of the union aimed at the continued development of the basket of Arabs to enable it to reach the world.
Wafa El-Tayeb, president of the organizing club and its founder 30 years ago, announced his team’s intention to invest in the event to restore the Arab title obtained in Morocco in 2010, taking advantage of the good preparations following their victory in the league and cup for this season, led by Lebanese coach Izzat Ismail, who took Beirut to the previous title in Jordan and Al-Amal occupied the second position, and Al-Tayeb confirmed that Arab basketball has achieved great successes under the leadership of Major General “M” Ismail Al-Gergawi, who paid great attention to the women’s championships, which increased the number of teams participating in tournaments.
