Laredo, Texas. – There is a high probability that we experience a increase in cases due to the third wave of Covid-19, in the first, second or third week of September, warned the mayor of Laredo, Texas, Pete Saenz.
In a series of reflections, Saenz assured that the community faces the following factors:
- There are no vaccinations for children under 12 years old;
- There is no pediatric intensive unit;
- There is a high probability that we will experience an “increase in cases” in the first, second or third week of September;
- A high probability that there will be no transfer of patients to external hospitals, (since patients who accept hospitals will face the same extreme conditions);
- No state medical personnel will be coming to Laredo in the next 2-3 weeks;
- Daily hospital overflows;
- Frequent deviations from the hospital;
For these reasons, the City Health authority took the following measures in our schools:
- He imposed a command to use a mask;
- Made a strong recommendation to vaccinate all eligible students, teachers, and staff;
- Weekly Covid-19 tests for those unwilling to get vaccinated
Additionally, for those reasons, the City is asking the Courts to allow the City to:
- Require city employees to be vaccinated.
The goal of the City government is not to infringe individual liberties in a direct or unreasonable manner.
“I ask those who feel their rights have been violated to consider some of the exceptions or limitations accepted by society, such as: Safety mandates, seat belts, and child safety seats”.
“I, along with Council Members, City Administration, staff, and many other stakeholders within our community, are doing everything we can to safeguard you, your family, and our entire community to the best of our ability.”.
God is with us. We are Laredoans, strong and resistant! Cheer up!
