Waiting for the intervention of the Juventus president at the sports-economic congress organized by the Financial Times in London
The project SuperLega it never failed, at least in the mind and intentions of Andrea Agnelli, Florentino Perez and Joan Laporta. For the presidents of Juve, Real Madrid and Barcelona, the three “founding” clubs of the first attempt immediately aborted with the almost immediate exit of the six big English players, Milan, Inter and Atletico (Psg, Bayern, Borussia Dortmund and Porto had previously avoided joining), the future of European football continues to be that. But how? Well, as reported by the Gazzetta dello SPort, today Andrea Agnelli should speak and explain what are the new guidelines at the sports-economic congress organized by the Financial Times in London. An appointment in which, among other things, Uefa number one Aleksander Ceferin, former partner of Agnelli and today his main opponent, will also participate in videoconference.

The outlines of the new project are still uncertain. Surely there is expectation to understand from Agnelli himself what the main lines of the SuperLega-bis project are. The main novelty should consist in the elimination of admissions by law: in short, no one should have a guaranteed place, guaranteed by the coat of arms and not by sporting merit. The Super League would no longer be a tournament closed by invitation, an unacceptable system, the reason for the thunderous and sudden collapse of the first attempt. What the proposed formula could then be is difficult to imagine, however it remains unlikely that for the founding fathers the national championships are the only qualification criterion. The new Superlega – anticipates the Gazzetta dello Sport – could therefore refer to the first project of the new Champions initially scheduled for 2024, the one which provided for the best 24 teams confirmed also in the following season plus 8 qualified from the championships. The novelty would be a Serie A and a Serie B, with promotions and relegations, as happens in the Uefa Nations League. For now it is in any case a matter of hypotheses, conjectures: but today, in fact, we should know more. Spotlights therefore focused on London and Andrea Agnelli.
