This Sunday I wrote about Citrus × limetta its origin is south and southeast Asia.
Features: A small tree that can reach 5 metres in height. The sweet or sour lime has irregular branches, and a relatively soft, greyish-brown wood. It has numerous thorns that can develop anywhere on the tree with a length between 1.5 and 7.5 cm. The petioles of this tree are narrow and winged, between 8 and 29 mm long. The apex of the leaflets is pointed, and their base is rounded. The flowers are white and when flowering are 2 to 3 cm wide. The petals fall off soon, leaving the fruit that begins to grow. The skin of the fruit is light yellow or green when ripe; the skin of the fruit is white and about 5 mm thick. The pulp is greenish and the juice is more sweet than sour depending on the variety.
Did you know?
- Normalize excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach and prevent the formation of ulcers. Strengthen the immune system to prevent colds. Help the formation of collagen, bones, teeth and red blood cells.
- Rejuvenate and hydrate the skin.
- Its shell can be used chopped to combat leaf-cutting ants.
- If the shells are boiled, the water prepared can be used as a fungicide.
- Lime oil is obtained which can be used as a food flavouring, fragrance in cleaning products, detergents and soaps, insect repellent and treatment for acne and dandruff.
Care:
- Full sun
- It does not resist frost, therefore, it should be covered with a thermal blanket in March until the end of the frost.
- Substrates rich in organic matter and slightly acidic.
- It can be in pots.
- Moderate watering
