The Municipality together with the Hemotherapy Service of the Posadas Hospital and with the collaboration of the Pope John XXIII Scout Group and the students of the CEUS will carry out a new blood donation campaign today from 08:00 to 12:00 at the Town Hall.
The undersecretary of health, Martina Antonelli, underlined in the press conference the importance of these initiatives since the only way to obtain blood is through voluntary donors, and that it is very necessary for various interventions such as surgery, accidents, cancer patients or transfusions.
In this sense, the official extended an invitation to the whole community to come and donate. “We can all need it at some point in our lives, so let’s take advantage of it and go donate,” he recalled.
All people aged between 16 and 65 can donate blood and those interested must present their identity document and feel in good health. Before leaving, they can consume tea, mate or coffee, but without fat. Anyone with tattoos, piercings or surgery must have passed at least one year since the last operation.
In the Palazzo Comunale they will be received by volunteers who will take their data and take care of them and then go to the extraction room. After they will also receive a breakfast. In addition to collection, voluntary donors will also be enrolled in the marrow registry.
