Today a “massacre” is carried out with a lottery in the Senate: López Benítez

Mexico City. During a mobilization carried out by workers of the Judicial Branch of the Federation (PJF) who oppose the judicial reform, the counselor of the Federal Judiciary (CJF), Lilia Mónica López Benítez, stated: “today, within one of The great institutions of our country are taking place, excuse me for saying it this way, a massacre where my fellow judges, and I include myself, are in a tombola defining life not only of our careers, of life. our families, but of justice in Mexico.”

This Saturday around a hundred workers dissatisfied with the judicial reform demonstrate at the headquarters of the Senate of the Republic. A very small number compared to the groups that have mobilized since August 19 when they began the stoppage of activities in all PJF bodies.

Few, “but noise and with rhythm. We remain in the fight against judicial reform,” said some of the workers who have been demonstrating since nine in the morning at the senatorial headquarters, the venue in which the positions of judges and magistrates are defined. which will be voted on June 1, 2025.

National strike in local courts

The mobilization has been used to also promote a nationwide strike, this time by the workers of the Superior Courts of Justice.

The call was made by workers from the Superior Court of Justice of Mexico City, considering Wednesday, October 16, as a tentative date.

Alejandro Yonary, who made use of the voice of the group of capital workers who for an hour supported the federal workers’ movement, said: “we want to summon the local and state judicial powers of the Mexican Republic so that they understand that this reform does not “It only affects judges and magistrates, this is going to cascade, it is going to affect the working base in terms of tabular salaries.”

A “massacre”

The day passed outside the Senate with slogans criticizing the Legislative Branch for the approval of the judicial reform, the selection methods and the “disrespect”, which they claim four members of the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF) committed when handing over the list of vacant positions and whose holders must be elected by citizen vote.

As has happened where they have demonstrated, drums, noisemakers, megaphones, and horns “arm” the protest.

The circuits of Puebla, Tlaxcala, Mexico City, Toluca, Jalisco and others have been present.

But the slogans of “Mexico endures, the PJ stands up” or the Judiciary stands up”, changed to that “support is visible” and “that counselor does represent me”, when counselor López Benítez appeared on the scene.

One of the members of the plenary session of the Judiciary who has openly been supporting the work stoppage in the jurisdictional bodies.

López Benítez said: “comrades and colleagues, I am here out of personal conviction, because the PJF has been my home for 35 years and I am sure that the people who are here are people with a judicial career, they are brave, committed and prepared people and that is what we want for our institution, certainty of having proven people, trained people, people with technical knowledge.

“Today you know, today, within one of the great institutions of our country, a massacre is taking place, excuse me for saying it this way. A massacre where my fellow judges, and I include myself, we are in a tombola defining life not only of our careers, of our families, but of justice in Mexico.

“Thank you very much for being here, for moving forward and we will continue here because it is my personal conviction,” said the counselor.
