Christmas 2020 will be different from other years for Wattrelos (North), but the city adapts. In the program : toboggan, elves, Santa Claus parade and an almost true Christmas market, from December 19 to 30, 2020!
In Wattrelos as elsewhere, Christmas will not be like the others: the Christmas market Salengro room and the descent of Santa Claus on December 24 from the bell tower of Saint-Maclou church are canceled. But Wattrelos does not want to give up on bringing the Christmas spirit to life!
New lights were installed this year with projections on the town hall and the Saint-Maclou church for the first time.

New activities are also set up for this Christmas 2020:
- Sunday 20 December 2020, Father Christmas in the company of his elves will parade between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the city center, in Beaulieu, in Crétinier, in Sapin Vert and in Martinoire.
- Until December 22, Father Christmas’s letterbox is available at the entrance to the Town Hall (weddings entrance) so that children can drop off their letters. The most beautiful letters / drawings will be rewarded.
- From 19 to 30 December, an elves sled will be installed on Place Delvainquière. Every day, children will be able to slide there from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. (in accordance with the rules of distancing and barrier gestures in the queue).
- Thursday 24 December, luminous characters will stroll on Place Delvainquière from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Thursday 24 December, there will still be a kind of Christmas market! More exactly, “a Christmas alley”, in the parking lot, opposite the socio-educational center. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can find Christmas stands: sweets, toys, books, floral arrangements. Also with Father Christmas.
