Despite the rains in Auvergne in recent days, the drought is still significant. The Haute-Loire, for example, remains in a state of maximum alert from the prefecture, to be seen this Tuesday 20 September in the JT of France 3 Auvergne. Again in the synthesis of 19/20: a public lighting interruption project in Aurillac and a new energy system at the university hospital of Clermont-Ferrand.
With temperatures falling and nature turning green after the storms in late August, drought seems to be behind us. However, in the departments of Auvergne, reinforced warnings, even from areas still in crisis, are always topical. In the Haute-Loire, for example, the prefecture has just issued the “enhanced alert” drought ordinance on Tuesday 20 September. With an average rainfall deficit of around 30%, historic water deficit in rivers and groundwater, supply difficulties still exist in many municipalities such as Saint-Paul-de-Tartas. Farmers have to travel several kilometers to fill their water tanks. Several sources lack throughput.
Also in the menu for your 19/20:
The municipality of Aurillac, in Cantal, is considering turning off part of the public lighting, between midnight and 5 am. Ecological, economic but also civic reasons, to set an example for the inhabitants. Of the 6,000 street lamps in the city, 2,000 would be turned off. Only the city center, equipped with LED lighting, would not be interested. If the project is validated, it lights up at 1is November.
Faced with rising energy prices, companies across all sectors are looking to save money and gain autonomy. This is the case of the sparkling mineral water company of Saint-Géron in the Haute-Loire. In this company, the energy bill has increased significantly in recent months. The company has turned to photovoltaics, an investment that will reduce the energy bill by 50,000 euros per year. A sustainable solution to avoid having to transfer production increases on the price of bottles.
It’s time for everyone to save energy, even in hospitals. At the university hospital of Clermont-Ferrand a system has been set up to recover the energy lost in the short circuit. A system that would almost halve the hospital’s natural gas consumption, which would become its own producer of hot water.
Wednesday 21 September marks World Alzheimer’s Day. In Clermont-Ferrand, the association France Alzheimer 63 multiplies the workshops to break the loneliness of the suffering. In the company of their companions, the patients prepare a show. The troupe will perform in early October. The game’s narrative is built using each person’s last memories.
