He was sentenced to more than six years in prison for attempted murder but went to the Supreme Court of Justice to appeal the ruling that is not final
Trelew (Agency) A media outlet in the Valley that is related to the prosecutor’s office of Attorney General Jorge Miquelarena published in the last hours that three weeks ago the well-known lawyer Oscar Romero had been a fugitive from Justice, that they had requested his capture, for which the lawyer went out yesterday to disprove version. “To say that I am a fugitive is outrageous,” he said.
Romero was sentenced to more than six years in prison for a case of attempted murder that he starred in in 2020 in this city, but curiously, the alleged victim of the act recanted Pulley and the rest of the accused, but no one from the trial court I agree.
“Regarding this detention, I understand that if something like this has been resolved, it is totally illegitimate and of course, if so, we will be filing the corresponding resources,” said the criminal lawyer and former professor of the Faculty of Law.
Oscar Romero spoke yesterday afternoon with Chronicle and was surprised by the publication in which he was mentioned as a fugitive from Justice.
“Now the case is in the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation for a complaint appeal, that request for challenge is in process and the situation is that according to our Code, and expressly stated in Article 392: they can only be executed final sentences, and in this case the sentence is not final,” Pulley said.
“Until the Court has issued its decision, the sentence cannot be considered final. So, that is why I was very surprised by the news where I am considered a fugitive, when it is not. All this week I have been going to court and working. To say that I am a fugitive is outrageous,” said one of those who say they would bring Pulley to justice.
“And as for this detention, I understand that if something like this has been resolved, it is totally illegitimate and of course, if so, we will be filing the corresponding resources,” he added.
“(…) it would be a violation of the principle of innocence, taking into account that the alleged victim in the case in which I was convicted totally rectified herself in an extrajudicial statement; We offered his testimony to the Chamber and the Superior Court of Justice and they did not allow it, they said that it was subsequent (to the conviction). We made an advance that we would present a review case and we are awaiting what the Supreme Court decides, I have confidence in the appeal that we presented before the Court, so in the meantime I continue to be prosecuted and continue to be released “
-Doctor, someone requested his capture or not, or is the term wrong?
“I understand that the prosecution has requested my capture, but you can ask for whatever comes to your mind; Hence, a judge makes room for it, taking into account what the Law says, that a sentence cannot be executed until it is final…”
-Are you escaped from Justice? she was asked.
– “Not at all, not at all,” said Romero. “In any moment. Until now I have never been absent from my home and my usual movements are always the same: go to the studio, to court, to the prosecutor’s office and I have continued until yesterday normally, that is why what was published caught my attention, “he said.
