Jakarta, October 10, 2022

To prevent the onset of breast cancer severity, early diagnosis with accurate tools such as mammograms is needed. The Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Budi Gunadi Sadikin will meet the need for mammograms in all districts / cities.

Health Minister Budi said the cancer that caused the most deaths in women was breast cancer. Early diagnosis is the most appropriate way to prevent the onset of the disease.

“Cancer is best detected early, not detected after stage 3 or 4. The simplest detection is Sadanis (clinical breast exam) and Sadari (breast self exam). of a mammogram, “Health Minister Budi said at the Pinkwalk breast screening event on Sunday (9/10) in Jakarta.

The availability of mammography equipment in Indonesia is still low compared to Australia and Thailand. Of the 3,000 hospitals in Indonesia, only 200 hospitals have mammograms.

The health minister told Budi that the government has pledged that by 2024 all provincial hospitals in Indonesia will be equipped with mammograms.

“Of our 514 regencies / cities, fewer than 100 regencies / cities have mammograms. 80% of Indonesian women do not have breast cancer, “said the health minister.

“I am sure that by 2024 there will be mammograms in 514 districts / cities. The most important thing is to live a healthy life without getting cancer,” said Health Minister Budi.

Meeting the need for mammograms for screening is an implementation of the health transformation in the primary care sector.

Of note, Minister of Health Budi has carried out a health transformation through 6 pillars, namely the primary services pillar, the reference services pillar, the health resilience system pillar, the health financing system pillar, the health human resources pillar and the health technologies pillar.
