To Poland and back freely, without tests or quarantine. It will clear borders in Silesia

Czechs and foreigners will no longer have to submit a negative test for covid-19 or quarantine on the way out of it. “The epidemiological situation in the neighboring Silesian Voivodeship in Poland is significantly improving. Therefore, we plan to release border measures from next week. When returning from this area, a negative covid test or 14-day quarantine will no longer be necessary,” Adam Vojtech said on Saturday 27 June.

So far, the Silesian Voivodeship, together with Portugal and Sweden, was among the areas with the highest risk of coronavirus infection, according to the ministry. The ministry places the United Kingdom in the medium risk category and the rest of the European countries in the low risk category. The Silesian Voivodeship will now be included among the areas with a low risk of infection, which already includes the rest of Poland. Ministry spokeswoman Gabriela Štěpanyová confirmed this to ČTK.

When traveling from European countries with a low risk of infection, Czech citizens and foreigners do not have to prove a negative test for covid-19. Belgium has been newly included in this category since Monday, June 22, when the ministry originally included it in countries with a medium risk of infection. Unlike in higher-risk areas, people from countries with a low risk of infection can also come to the Czech Republic for tourism. On the contrary, for people from countries with high and medium risk, they can enter the Czech Republic only for work, family, health reasons or in urgent emergencies.

When traveling from a medium-risk country, only foreigners must have a coronavirus test. When arriving from high-risk countries, foreigners and Czechs must prove a negative test or undergo a two-week quarantine.

The current restrictions on the Czech-Polish border due to an outbreak in the Silesian Voivodeship have not been liked by some people on both sides of the border before. Even some time ago, a protest meeting for the opening of the borders took place in Český Těšín.
