To Paris, Saudi Crown Prince Stays in ‘World’s Most Expensive House’

Paris

Crown Prince Arab Saudi Lord Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is currently on a visit to French to meet with the President Emmanuel Macron. During this visit, MBS stayed at a luxury chateau or castle which was dubbed the ‘most expensive house in the world’ when he bought it in 2015.

As reported AFPFriday (29/7/2022), Chateau Louis XIV in Louveciennes outside the capital Paris is a newly built mansion intended to emulate the luxurious Palace of Versailles, which is located nearby and was once the residence of the French Royal family.

The 7,000-square-meter property was purchased by an undisclosed buyer in 2015, for 275 million euros (Rp 4.1 trillion). The leading Fortune magazine called it ‘the most expensive house in the world’.

MBS, 36, was reported two years later by the leading US media, the New York Times, as the last owner of the luxury castle through a series of shell companies.

Local government officials confirmed to AFP that the heir to the throne of the controversial Saudi Kingdom was staying at the luxury property before his dinner with Macron on Thursday (28/7) local time.

Journalists outside the luxury property’s perimeter walls saw suited security guards guard the entrance and witnessed the presence of a large number of police personnel, including half a dozen vehicles.

MBS and Macron are scheduled to meet at the Elysee Presidential Palace on Thursday (28/7) local time for talks, which critics in France see as inappropriate.
