For the third year, Erwan Averty, antenna director of Radio Sommières, association of Francas du Gard, and the Rafart workshop in Sommières, with the godfather Soukoz, present the exhibition, “To each his own style” at the Maison de santé de la Vaunage. The works are produced by about twenty young people, aged 9 to 18, living in the territory of the commune community of Sommières.
Each year, this exhibition takes place as part of the “Place à nos droits” operation in order to highlight the expression of young people. “To each his own style” is an action intended to promote their artistic practices: plastic arts, music and video.
“The exhibition was installed at the Lawrence-Durrell chapel, in Sommières, explains Erwan Averty. A person from the nursing home having seen the exhibition and appreciated the colors and qualities of work of the young people and Soukoz, asked us to come and exhibit at their home and make the places more pleasant in such a difficult period, and where the art and culture are not overrepresented. The goal is to show that these young people can do as well as the adults. When you look at the exhibit you don’t know if it’s done by children or by grown-ups. “
Raphaël Rispal, from the Rafart workshop, gives illustration lessons in his studio, “twice a week for three years with the children who take part in the exhibition as well as other projects such as” To each his own style “. I have been in partnership with radio Sommières and the artist Soukoz for three years now”. Soukoz, godfather of the exhibition, is “very happy to be able to accompany the children in this adventure, and to be able to transfer them know-how”.
“I am an illustrator painter from hip-hop and graffiti culture. My work is characterized by urban and rural subjects. Bright colors are everything children love, and through my paintings I tackle subjects like childhood, the rise, the transmission of know-how and the world of dreams. It is obvious that the idea is to make child labor work and in this context, we are always looking for other rooms. “
The exhibition is visible until Saturday March 27.
