Those responsible for the worst crisis we have had as a society in our recent history have been hiding for days, without appearing, hiding. Neither Alejandro Giammattei, nor Consuelo Porras, nor Rafael Corruchiche, nor Cinthya Monterroso, nor Shirley Rodríguez, nor any of the members of the group of coup plotters show their faces despite the responsibility they have at the head of each institution they direct. At the end of the day, it seems like that moment just when the rats are about to abandon the ship and they run from one place looking for a place to hide, but they can’t find it and they choose to leave in terror. The last few times they have made public appearances, they are seen sick, emaciated, pale, sometimes showing panic in their expressions, which are already evidence that this small group is hanging by a thread and the last efforts must be made to cut it and let them abandon power.
That thread from which they hang are all those reasons why we are in this deep crisis. That thread is called the commitments made and that they will not be able to fulfill, mainly commitments to their financiers, to the oligarchy that pushes them to do more and guarantee their privileges and impunity, they are their commitments to organized crime groups, it is the Russian carpet. , it is the contract with the Russian trust to buy the vaccines against COVID 19, it is the unbuilt hospitals, it is each and every one of the acts of corruption and impunity that have occurred in recent years. They are sick with corruption, violence and impunity, they are like the rot that corrodes everything and ends up deteriorating everything until their death. That is what they have done to Guatemala and therefore to the Guatemalans.
This group of corrupt people led by Alejandro Giammattei and Consuelo Porras know they are lost, exhausted and know that all the strategies they have adopted to maintain control of public institutions have failed. The People of Guatemala have told them enough and have exercised it under all institutional, democratic mechanisms and under the precepts of the Rule of Law. They gave them their first defeat on June 25 in the first electoral round, they dealt them a hard blow in the runoff by voting in favor of Bernando Arévalo and Karin Herrera of the Semilla Movement and not choosing Sandra Torres and the UNE, which was their instrument. to continue this dictatorial regime that they intended to impose. In the face of all the criminalization and judicialization to ignore the past elections, the People have taken to the streets en masse and have told them loud and clear: enough is enough!
This group of coup plotters is hanging by a thread and every last effort must be made to cut it off and ultimately make them fall. What will come after that will be the construction on the destruction that they have left in their wake and thus begin a long but hopeful path, where it is possible to think about another Possible Guatemala.
