Ewa Ziętek: I was a weak mother
Ewa Ziętek is a graduate of the State Higher School of Theater in Warsaw. with Krystyna Janda, Emilian Kamiński, Gabriela Kownacka and Paweł Wawrzecki. “This year was full of great actors” – recalls Ziętek in an interview with Plejada. She started playing during her studies – after Wajda’s “The Wedding” there was a “Millionaire”, and later, among others, “Candlelight party”. Her career was gaining momentum, which affected her private life. The actress believes that acting and “ordinary life” cannot be reconciled.
The scene, the unreal life, the creation of a different reality was so addictive that a person gives up his private life. I admire those people who managed to support their family.
She honestly admits that she was not able to skillfully divide the acting and family life. Her first marriage ended in divorce. In 1978 she became a mother. She honestly says that she did not do well in this role.
However, the actor is self-centered, I’d rather be a mother who is not self-centered. I have not always succeeded in this. Then I understood why my parents were against. It is almost impossible to connect one to the other.
Lack of time for the family, no involvement in the lives of children – this, according to the artist, is the price to pay for a career.
This is also some kind of cost. It’s hard to get off the stage and go pick up the kids from kindergarten, cook soup, etc., although you can, because you used to do it all. But I can’t do anything else, I can’t even sew a button, but I can play that I sew properly. There is little use for this in normal life
Despite everything, the actress is sure that if she had a second chance, she would still bet on her passion. According to Ziętek, to be an actress you have to want it the most in the world – and it was so in her case.
