Barcelona and Uruguay player Ronald Araujo suffers from a tendon injury in his right upper thigh as the young defender was injured during his participation with his country in a friendly with Iran.
Araujo left the game around the fourth minute feeling some pain and the medical examinations he underwent revealed the nature of the injury.
Barcelona doctors have warned the Uruguayan international not to face a fate similar to what happened with Samuel Umtiti, his former colleague in the Barca locker room, who moved on loan to Lecce this summer.
What happened with Umtiti?
At the 2018 World Cup, during France’s confrontation with Peru, Umtiti clashed with Jefferson Farfan, as the Peruvian was “stunned” and the Frenchman received a kick in the Peruvian player’s knee in the left thigh which from then on conditioned his entire career.
Umtiti decided at that moment to complete his career with France at the World Cup without surgery, which allowed him to touch the sky as a world champion, but he could not get his feet back on the pitch as he did before the coronation, which is the fear that runs in the thoughts of FC Barcelona. And the Spanish newspaper “Sport” has indicated that the Uruguayan central defender, who recently signed the renewal of his contract – as Umtiti did then – will listen to all parties to decide whether or not to undergo surgery.
