Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
One soldier TNI killed allegedly shot by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Tendius Gwijangge, in Jayapura, Papua on Saturday (20/11).
There were two soldiers who were victims of the alleged KKB shooting. One person died, namely Sergeant Ari Baskoro, and another Suru-suru Koramil Commander, Infantry Captain Arviandi, who will be rushed to the hospital.
The 1725 Yahukimo Military District Commander (Dandim), Infantry Lieutenant Colonel Christian Irreuw, said Ari’s body was evacuated from Dekai to Sentani, Jayapura, Papua. Then it was flown to Surabaya on Sunday (21/11). Then he was taken to his hometown in Kendal, Central Java.
“The evacuation was carried out on a plane belonging to Semuwa Air,” Christian said as quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, Arviandi is said to be being treated at RST Marthen Indey, Jayapura.
Both Arviandi and Ari are members of the Iskandar Muda Military Command, Aceh.
So far, Irreuw has not been able to confirm whether the two victims were shot at the Koramil or while they were outside.
“I am still waiting for the complete written report,” he said.
However, he stated that the perpetrator of the attack on the Suru-suru Koramil was the KKB led by Tendius Gwijangge.
According to Irreuw’s statement, there was information that the KKB would attack the Kodim and TNI posts. Therefore, he ordered the personnel to be alert and increase patrols.
“The action was allegedly carried out before December 1, 2021, which was used as the anniversary of Free Papua,” said Irreuw.
However, he admitted that he had not received a complete report regarding the chronology of the two soldiers who were shot, and one of them died.
Irreuw only revealed the time and location of the attack. According to him, on Saturday (20/11) at 06.00 WIT, the KKB attacked and fired at the Suru-suru Koramil, which is the preparatory koramil.
The gunfight, continued Irreuw, lasted until 12.00 WIT.
“The number of KKB is quite a lot. However, how much reinforcement is not known for sure,” he explained.
