The entity registers 90.7 percent of the application of doses against HPV in girls aged 12 and 13, cisgender and transgender women with HIV
Tlaxcala, Tlax, on January 20, 2023 (Editorial). – The state of Tlaxcala ranks first in the nation for progress in vaccination against the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in the female population aged 12 and 13, as well as in cisgender and transgender women with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) living in the entity, so they have their respective dose applied by the Health Sector to prevent cases of cervical-uterine cancer.
The achievement is the result of compliance with the health strategy that Governor Lorena Cuéllar Cisneros implements in coordination with the Government of Mexico and medical personnel to apply this vaccine in the IMSS-Bienestar Health Units, in state secondary schools and in the Outpatient Center for the Prevention and Care of AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (Capasits), this with the objective that the female population has its only dose of protection.
According to the latest monitoring cut of the campaign to mitigate the backlog of vaccination schemes against HPV, prepared by the federal Ministry of Health, in the 60 municipalities of Tlaxcala, 22,736 doses have been applied to female age groups who they represent an advance of 90.7 percent, occupying the entity the first place in Mexico.
This year, the vaccination strategy will continue until the sectoral goal of 25,059 doses of vaccine applied to Tlaxcala is completed.
Puebla is in second place with a national advance of 77.3 percent, Guanajuato with 76.9 percent, Hidalgo with 68.9 percent, Morelos with 62.4 percent, and Durango with 62.3 percent.
On November 21, 2022, the campaign to mitigate the backlog of HPV vaccination schemes began at the national level, a strategy that seeks to prevent cervical cancer in girls and adolescents, cisgender and transgender women; Meanwhile, the vaccination brigades apply the dose to girls and adolescents who are in the first and second grade of secondary school.
