The street is still rumbling in Tizi Ouzou, where the weekly Friday march drained, yesterday, thousands of citizens who do not want to let go before seeing the realization of the demands of the popular movement set in motion, nationally, on February 22 2019, to demand the departure of the system.
The latter continues to be decried by walkers who continue to mobilize in a dynamic that is increasingly resuming its rights after months of “truce” imposed by the health crisis caused by the coronavirus. Yesterday’s march in the capital of Djurdjura clearly revives the anti-voting front started a few weeks ago, as soon as the legislative elections of June 12 were announced. The slogans against this electoral deadline were, moreover, put forward by the demonstrators who did not stop chanting, loud and clear, “Ulac Lvot Ulac!” (There will be no vote). “The elections will be useless in a situation of confusion at the top of the state.
It’s haste, ”suggested a walker who believes that the situation facing the country is serious both economically and socially. “Prices keep increasing worryingly. The poor citizen faces a very harsh daily life ”, he fumed in the middle of a crowd chanting“ Klitou lblad ya serrakine! ” (You plundered the country, thieves). “Impending shipwreck. After 60 years of programmed drift, we are capsizing straight towards Bermuda ”, we read on a plywood panel suspended by a protester who insisted that“ Algeria is heading straight for the sinking ”. We have noticed people who have never missed the Friday march in Tizi Ouzou, such as the father of a family who hoisted a sign on which is mentioned: “You have mortgaged Algeria, stolen its wealth and tortured its children. ” Slogans stigmatizing the DRS were also launched by the crowd who also shouted “Civil status and not military”.
The release of detainees from the popular movement is again demanded by the marchers throughout their demonstration. “Free the detainees, free Algeria”, “No to the instrumentalisation of justice” they resumed in chorus throughout the march. This took place without any incident. We did not notice any police presence all along the route of the demonstration, unlike the weekly action of the students which was prevented, once again, on Tuesday, by the security services which deployed an important device in the town of Tizi Ouzou.
