Karl Geiger from the German Ski Association (DSV) also won the World Cup on the Hochfirstschanze on Sunday. Like on Saturday, the German won ahead of the Slovenian Anze Lanisek and the DSV teammate Markus Eisenbichler. With the victory, Geiger extends the lead in the overall World Cup.
From the DSV point of view it was a very successful weekend. Stephan Leyhe made it into the top 10 and finished tenth. Like on Saturday, Justin Lisso showed a strong performance and finished 13th. Severin Freund (14), Constantin Schmid (16), Philipp Raimund (19, Richard Freitag (21), Pius Paschke (31) and David Siegel (38) complete that good result of the German jumpers.
The voices
Karl Geiger:
“A perfect weekend in Titisee-Neustadt. Won twice, really awesome. I didn’t expect that and I just had a lot of fun.”
Anze Lanisek (Slovenia), runner-up:
“It was a bit of copy and paste from yesterday. Although my first jump wasn’t that good. In the second round I showed a very good jump. Karl (Geiger) was in a good mood again and deserved the win. Hopefully we can do better next time.”
Markus Eisenbichler, third place:
“In general, I’m actually very satisfied and made two very good jumps. I was a bit disappointed with the second one, because as an athlete you can tell whether the conditions are right or not. That’s when I noticed in the air that it was tough and difficult. Of course, it’s cool that I still finished on the podium. I just have to keep working like this and maybe luck will be on my side.”
