Tite outlines Seleção without Firmino and tests Gabigol and Gabriel Jesus in attack; see likely escalation | Brazilian Team

A Brazilian Team will have news in the lineup for the match against Ecuador, this Friday, at 9:30 pm, in Beira-Rio, for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The main one is the exit from Roberto Firmino, starting the first four rounds of the qualifiers and Brazil’s top scorer in the competition, alongside Neymar, with three goals.

Gabigol, Gabriel Jesus e Richarlison were tested in the squad’s attack in place of the Liverpool player.

On Wednesday morning, coach Tite led the team’s last training session at Granja Comary before the trip to Porto Alegre and, although he closed part of the tactical work, he gave clues about the likely squad.

CBF showed only excerpts of the activity on its official channel. However, seconds before the broadcast was interrupted, it was possible to see Tite separating holders and reserves. At this time, the players who stayed on the field with the coach were:

Alisson, Danilo, Éder Militão, Marquinhos and Alex Sandro; Casemiro, Fred, Richarlison, Lucas Paquetá, Neymar and Gabigol.

Afterwards, when the transmission was resumed, holders and reserves faced each other. In this stage, Tite also used Gabriel Jesus in place of Gabigol.

Later, Richarlison switched positions with the Manchester City striker and started playing centrally.

Disputing a spot in the attack, Gabigol and Gabriel Jesus had a private conversation with Tite right at the beginning of this Wednesday’s activity.

In addition to the departure of Firmino from the starting lineup, another novelty is the replacement of Renan Lodi, starter in the first four qualifiers, by Alex Sandro. The change had already been rehearsed in other trainings.

In the middle, Fred wins the spot and Douglas Luiz, who is suspended from the duel against Ecuador, for having received two yellow cards.

In addition, Lucas Paquetá should start for the first time in these qualifiers.

Everton Ribeiro, the other midfielder at Tite’s disposal, did not appear on the pitch this Wednesday. He had already trained separately on Tuesday, performing a regenerative work, as well as defender Rodrigo Caio, who normally participated in the activity with the group on Wednesday.

The Flamengo midfielder had complained of a stomp on his foot last Sunday, in the match against Palmeiras.

The team will leave Granja Comary in the afternoon, around 3:30 pm (Brasilia time), and head to Rio de Janeiro to catch the flight to Porto Alegre. Arrival at the hotel in the state capital is scheduled for 20:30. On Thursday, the team will work in Beira-Rio, stage of the duel against Ecuador, on Friday, at 9:30 pm.

Tite has been leading training since last Friday at the Granja field, with an eye on the clashes for the South American qualifiers against Ecuador, on Friday, in Porto Alegre, and Paraguay, on Tuesday, in Asunción. The team is also already working with an eye on the Copa America, which will be held in Brazil starting on June 13th.

The coach only had the full group at the Granja on Tuesday, when goalkeeper Ederson and striker Gabriel Jesus arrived, who participated in the final of the Champions League, last Saturday, with Manchester City. Thiago Silva, European champion with Chelsea, arrived on monday night. He joined the Brazilian national team even after suffering a left thigh injury in the Champions League final.

Thiago Silva was not cut from the list by an option of the technical committee, in agreement with the defender. After receiving the results of the exams carried out by Thiago still in Portugal, the team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, explained the case to the coaching staff, who chose to keep the player’s call-up, aiming at his recovery for the Copa America. Rodrigo Caio, however, was summoned to be an option mainly for the Playoffs games.

While the group was not complete, five young players from Athletico-PR, Flamengo and Fluminense participated in training until this Tuesday: goalkeepers João Fernando (Flamengo, 20 years old) and Léo Linck (Athletico, 20 years old), defender Luan Patrick ( Athletico, 19 years old), midfielder Daniel Cabral (Flamengo, 19 years old) and striker Matheus Martins (Fluminense, 17 years old).

Brazil leads the World Cup qualifiers after four rounds, with 100% success, with 12 points. In the first four games, the team beat Bolivia (5 to 0), Peru (4 to 2), Venezuela (1 to 0) and Uruguay (2 to 0).
