Titans criticized referees’ work with emojis

Because of league rules that want to limit criticism of referees, it is rare that we see official accounts of teams shouting about their calls. The Tennessee Titans were an exception on Sunday.

It happened just before half-time in their game against the Seahawks.

Julio Jones believed he caught a touchdown that reduced Seattle to 17-12 before the convert. The touchdown was even called into the field, but the video replay disagreed. Still, in the pictures, it didn’t seem that obvious… and the Titans were quick to rate it on Twitter.

Instead, the Titans settled for a field goal to make Seattle 17-9. The Twitter account was really not happy the players were visibly so taken aback because 48 seconds later the Seahawks scored a touchdown to extend their lead to 24-9 at halftime.

It’s weird to see such a clear team in their discontent. That being said, we will note that they did not use a word in their frustration; only emojis. It is presumed that this is to avoid hefty fines for their writings. After all, the words fly away, but the writings remain.

It’s also good to remember that it’s probably not the employee who writes the tweets who would pay the NFL fine. It’s more the organization, so the employee in question wanted to be careful while connecting with their supporters who were undoubtedly frustrated in their living room.

It must be said that this is a major change. In the second half, the Titans made a comeback. They scored a touchdown in the third quarter and added two more in the fourth, including one 29 seconds from the end of regulation time to force overtime.

There was ultimately no damage because they won 33-30 in overtime. So this decision made life difficult for them for their comeback and forced them to play more football, but luckily it didn’t cost a result.

Ultimately, Titans fans will come out of this game happy because it was the comeback of Derrick Henry, who scored three touchdowns in addition to amassing 182 rushing yards.
