Cameron has said several times that he feels “haunted” by the controversy of the fans about the film’s ending, so he decided to present a scientific study that proves that Jack “had to die”. “We conducted a scientific study to put an end to this whole thing once and for all,” the director said, as he reports Toronto sunduring an interview to promote his new film “Avatar – The Water Way”.
“We did a thorough forensic analysis with a hypothermia expert who reproduced the raft from the film. We will be doing a small special that will be released in February. Two stunt doubles of the same body size as the original two actors were equipped with sensors on the body and inside the body and were placed in icy waters. Detections and tests confirmed that both could not have been saved,” explained the director.
“Jack had to die. It’s a story of love, sacrifice and mortality, love is measured by sacrifice, like in Romeo and Juliet,” concluded Cameron.
