What topics does the district parliamentary group of Free Voters (FW) want to focus on in its work in 2021? The elected officials dealt with this in an online meeting.
According to the announcement, vocational training and the optimal equipment of the vocational school center in Wiesau have high priority. The district has developed extremely well over the past few decades and many new jobs have been created. In order to maintain this trend, however, well-trained specialists are necessary. The district must therefore continue to invest in vocational training and bring the workshops of the vocational school center up to date.
The decision to build a new secondary school in Kemnath and the construction of a new sports hall at Stiftland-Gymnasium Tirschenreuth were also a major challenge. She also wants to campaign for additional learning locations and an additional technical university location in the district.
“For the upward development we will also need the influx of people and for this we have to create even more attractive living conditions,” write the free voters. It is not just about jobs, but also about factors such as modern apartments, good schools and childcare, efficient medical care with clinics and resident doctors, efficient digital infrastructure, a wide range of leisure activities, restaurants and cultural offers. The parliamentary group will also seek talks with the district’s integration guides in 2021.
Ensuring medical care will be a major task. “Securing the Tirschenreuth and Kemnath hospitals, especially the future of the disused hospital in Waldsassen and the further development of geriatric rehabilitation in Erbendorf, will challenge us,” said the local politicians.

During the discussion, the participants would have exchanged views on many topics for the coming year. Among other things, it revolved around the following questions: What tasks does the district’s new climate protection manager have? What other opportunities does tourism offer? What are the opportunities in the eco-model regions? How can public transport be organized even more effectively? How can the connection to the national rail network and the comfort for rail travelers be improved? In addition, the participants exchanged information for a longer period on the current corona situation and possible consequences.
