Davante Adams is without a doubt one of the best wide receivers in the NFL – and has been for many years. However, he has not been able to fulfill his potential with the Raiders for some time now. Now the star seems to have had enough.

Davante Adams and star quarterback Aaron Rodgers once became a fearsome duo. Wearing the Green Bay Packers uniform, the wide receiver managed an impressive 622 catches for 7,590 yards and 69 touchdowns in 108 games together.
In March 2022, Adams followed his heart and the Raiders’ open wallet. The now 31-year-old signed a five-year contract for over $140 million – also because he really wanted to join Derek Carr. This was a “lifelong dream” of his, as he had played with his friend at Fresno State in college.

But it wasn’t supposed to be a sporting success story: After a rather unfortunate year without playoffs with over 1,500 yards and 14 scores from Adams, playmaker Carr was ultimately dismissed. He moved on to the New Orleans Saints.
And the top receiver? Adams still managed a decent 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns last season. But he also stood out because he often got upset in a Raiders environment with uncertain quarterbacks like Jimmy Garoppolo and Aidan O’Connell in 2023. In the meantime he had finally moved himself – to the New York Jets.
Just this year, when “A-Rod” was working on his comeback after his Achilles tendon rupture, the following happened: Rodgers said during a golf tournament at Lake Tahoe: “I love Davante. And I can’t wait to play with him again .”

But nothing happened – and Adams started the season again with the Raiders. Together with transition playmaker Gardner Minshew, the top pass receiver reached 209 yards with 18 yards in three games, but only one touchdown.

Overall, however, the frustration remained. Adams caused trouble, got into a fight with head coach Antonio Pierce – and he is now said to have responded with a like to a social media post about whether the receiver would never play for the Raiders again. All of this was probably the last straw, although Adams had since denied it: “If it’s about me being upset or unhappy in this organization, then that’s a bunch of bullshit that’s just for clickbait.”

And Las Vegas is also said to be open to a deal for a package in the form of a second-round pick and more. The only question that arises: who is bidding? The New York Jets, like the Raiders, are 2-2 around quarterback Rodgers? Or the 4-0 Chiefs as the reigning Super Bowl champions with Patrick Mahomes, who is struggling with injury concerns in his offense. However, Kansas City is the Raiders’ direct competitor in the AFC West.
In terms of salary, Adams will definitely receive $17.5 million, and even $36.25 million in the contract years 2025 and 2026.
