Tiraspol: Where will the German “Piranhas” move and why are there so many trenches near our borders?: EADaily

Tiraspol is very concerned about the increasing militarization of Moldova. This was stated today, November 16, by the head of the Pridnestrovie delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC – the joint management body of the peacekeeping operation on the Dniester) Oleg Belyakov.

According to him, in less than a year, 19 military exercises were held in the Republic of Moldova. Moldova is building new training grounds, primarily with foreign militaries, and the media regularly covers the supply of new weapons, including heavy military equipment. He recalled that the day before the National Army of Moldova received the last batch of Piranha-3H armored personnel carriers transferred from Germany, a total of 19 units.

“Weapons are coming from the NATO bloc, and not only from the United States, but now also from Germany. There was a presentation of the work of these armored personnel carriers, which can only cause us a feeling of great concern. The whole question is where these armored personnel carriers will go, where they will be deployed and how they will conduct their training or other purposes from the point of view of use by the army of the Republic of Moldova,” – says Belyakov.

The Transnistrian authorities also drew attention to the digging of trenches in the security separation zone guarded by peacekeepers on the part of Moldova. They are made using appropriate engineering technology. According to Belyakov, as a continuation of these trenches, blocks are being installed on the roads bordering Transnistria.

“Nobody asks why the Moldovan side is digging trenches on the border with Transnistria? Where does this lead? This only leads to aggravation of the situation in the security zone,” – concluded Oleg Belyakov.

The Chisinau delegation to the JCC expressed complaints to Tiraspol due to the presence of mobile border posts, as well as the construction of a metal parapet for security on the road connecting the Moldovan village of Varnitsa and the Transnistrian city of Bendery. In their opinion, this is evidence of restrictions on the freedom of movement of citizens.

Let us remind you that in Transnistria the high “yellow” level of terrorist threat has been extended until January 14, 2024. This decree was signed by the Pridnestrovian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky “due to the continuing threat of committing a terrorist act and the need to continue activities to counter its commission.”
