Tips to stay safe this summer
Hydrate yourself adequately
Try to drink water whether you are thirsty or not, if you know you will be in the sun or in a hot environment.
Avoid caffeinated beverages and limit alcohol with added sugar
As I pointed out above, alcohol or coffee is dehydrating. Its diuretic effect makes the body vulnerable and reduces the ability to compensate for the effects of heat.
Keep track of how many drinks you’ve had
Sometimes it can be easy to lose track of your drinks, especially in the summer. This can lead to poisoning or even heatstroke much faster than you might expect.
Take preventive measures
If you’re out boating or just swimming, wear a life jacket, stay hydrated and eat regularly.
Also, make sure you constantly apply an SPF 50 sunscreen to your skin, at least every 2 hours, and stay in the shade whenever possible.
Instead of conclusion
People who consume alcohol when the thermometers outside indicate extremely high temperatures and choose to cool off with a cold bath risk losing their lives. Statistics show that alcohol is responsible for 50% of drowning deaths in teenagers and adults!
