Tips from dietician Veronika Stockreiter: Fit and healthy through the right diet

As part of an exciting lecture given by the community, dietician Veronika Stockreiter shared numerous valuable tips on the topic of “Immune strength through proper nutrition” with the participants. The lecture offered practical approaches on how you can support your own immune system in a culinary way with everyday foods – and all without exotic “superfoods”.

ROSSLEITHEN. Veronika Stockreiter emphasized that you don’t need expensive or difficult-to-obtain foods to strengthen the immune system. In fact, the real “immune boosters” are often right on our doorstep. Local foods in particular, such as seasonal fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds and various herbs and spices, play a central role. They are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that naturally support our immune system. Veronika Stockreiter attached particular importance to the fact that these foods can be easily integrated into everyday life.

Activate immune system

Foods that are particularly rich in vitamins, such as citrus fruits, carrots, peppers and nettles, help to activate the immune system. Healthy fats, such as those found in nuts or flaxseeds, are just as important because they have anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger and turmeric, both easily available spices, are true all-rounders for the immune system and can be used in smoothies or teas, for example.

“It’s not the exotic foods that make the difference. Regional, fresh and unprocessed foods are the real immune boosters.”
Veronika Stockreiter

Following the lecture, there was not only an exchange between the listeners, but also recipes that encouraged people to cook and showed how easy it can be to strengthen the immune system through diet. Whether immune-boosting breakfast ideas or healthy snacks: all recipes were designed to be easy to implement and integrate into everyday life.

Working group leader Mayor Kurt Pawluk thanked everyone for the practical presentation on behalf of the Healthy Community of Roßleithen. “It is impressive to see how you can positively influence your health using simple means that are available to all of us. We are very grateful for the many helpful tips and look forward to implementing them in everyday life.”
