The official website of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) explained that raw fish should be kept in the refrigerator at 40 degrees Fahrenheit, or 4.4 degrees Celsius, for only a day or two before cooking.

After cooking, store seafood in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days. It is best to use frozen raw fish within a period of 3 to 8 months.

The US Department of Agriculture warns against leaving seafood out for more than two hours.

Commercially canned fish, such as tuna, can be stored for up to five years in the pantry.

Home canned fish can also be stored for only one year.
