Dealing properly and educationally with a child who suffers from Attention DeficitIt is a very important matter, especially in school, as it is his second home, and the one responsible for his upbringing and education alongside his family.

Dr. Ashraf Salama, Qasr Al-Aini psychiatry consultant, explained that the school has the greatest factor in evaluating a child who suffers from distraction, and is able to accommodate his differences. This child may be distracted by the slightest movement, and cannot comprehend in the presence of large numbers around him in the classroom, which requires effort. Additional and individual training with him so that he can achieve academic achievement like his peers.

Parents must also follow important tips while studying for the child, to enhance his ability to achieve. These tips are explained by Dr. Ashraf, and those responsible for educating and evaluating the child in the classroom and at home must also follow them:

Tips to prevent distraction:

The distracted child must sit away from doors and windows in the classroom to prevent distraction and increase his concentration.

Make sure the child sits in the front rows, not the back.

The teacher gives orders and requests to the child directly: “Bring the homework booklet from the bag,” for example.

It is preferable for the distracted child to be in a class with a small number of students.

When studying, parents pay attention to giving the child direct and simple commands, “Choose the word and write it,” for example, and do not give him ambiguous or long commands.

Take care to give him time to rest from time to time because he gets bored quickly from studying.

In subjects that require memorization, make him move or play and repeat them while playing, a new way so that he does not get bored of studying.

He took care to divide his tasks and duties into small periods and a few times, not continuous, so that he does not get bored quickly and is able to complete his work.

Pay attention to repeating the information to his ears, and make him repeat it behind you.

Do not use harshness or severity with him to make him collect, as this will reduce his collection.
